It’s been one of those absolutely amazing good vibes radiating kind of times… Last night I celebrated life with this divine long lost soul friend -goddess of a human 💜✨
We started with fresh snapper ceviche 🐠🐟🎣 margaritas, chile guaro shots, and a second shot as a gift from a kind- non intrusive guy in the restaurant (…. Cause I know all the ladies out there have received shots with the expectation of having to entertain, but not this guy- not this night 🙂 cheers to that)
Such a divine dinner shared with the best of company, heart felt talks of love and life the cosmos and beyond, once the feasting had commenced we journeyed down to the beach (of course you know with headlamp at head) and bathed in the glowing moonlight on the empty vast beach:) moon salutations and moon dancing obviously included 🌕💃🏽💃🏽🌕 There is something so magical, so powerful about the intensity -yet gentle warm love of sweet mother moon presenting herself raw, pure vulnerable. We then headed back to the hostel, floating with lightness and joy and enjoyed the company of the others before heading to bed 🙂
The Nosara beach hostel is a pretty we some place to stay. Just a 100yafds from the waves… Great staff, super good vibes from the other guests, and clean. I believe the universe has a special power of bringing people together at the right place and time in our journeys… And we are all here now. Like Donna Farhi Said “when the moment opens itself up for you will you step in?”
Will you? 🙂
Then today!!! ☀️🌈 Another most beautiful day to be alive. I didn’t make it down to surf (the waves here are a bit relentless…. No lull’s between sets. Just waves on waves on waves.🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊 ) awesome! Yes- put in two solid days of double surf sessions (or at least attempting to surf) and upon waking up this am- my shoulders are SORE… So i decided instead to do some Am yoga followed my morning chatting with the most open, loving human I am fortunate enough to share this space with … Then a journey to the local store, lots of fresh fruit and super smoothie LOVE
This beautiful earth provides unlimited nourishment. Body mind and soul. Peaceful mornings flow into afternoon thunderstorms. Life is vibrant. ☀️🌱🌺The show of Mother Nature that is always, always in process, never fails to enchant- finding joy and peace in the vast beauty of life it’s self is gift we can give ourselves every minute of everyday. All you need to be happy you have inside of you right now 🙂
As the sky erupts with warm happy tears 💦☁️💧💦💧☁️☁️☁️I feel so blessed and greatful to be on this planet with all you beautiful divine beings.
Happy Wednesday 💕
My mantra for the year has truly began to infuse every aspect of my being..and the transformation continues
“My heart IS open- I give and receive LOVE fearlessly”
find what drives your exsistence and be that. For me: It’s All love all the time 💜🌈💜🌈
life is too short for anything but good vibes ❤️☀️💚 Delighted in the powers of loving everything 🙂 humbled. Alive and free 🌀✨🌀🌀🌀✨🌀✨✨
Forver stoked ✌🏽️ And these days…Oh so salty and sunkissed 😘🌊
So life without wifi is A- absolutely amazing, B- absolutely relaxing C-so so super rad, but obviously impossible to blog.. So my stories are a bit behind, but so many jungle, river, turtle, thunder -lightening, hammock, monkey lovetastic tales to come….
Epic moments. Happening all around. Picture this… Close your eyes. Ha. Just kidding! open them😃😛 How are You supposed read w your eyes closed!?
So, picture this.
5’10 brunette, chucks on feet (aka converse shoes), dripping wet hair, bikini covering the necessary parts, machete in hand, and jungle ALL around!…
Wait for it… YES!
That totally happened 🙂 I can die happy. Felt like the star in my own movie. 🌟🎥🌟🌴💙🎥 .On That same adventure to the “posa” the watering hole on the paniquenes family property, I saw a white face monkey, a hawk, put natural exfoliating mud from the waterhole on my face AND swung like Tarzan from a super fun rope swing.
So stoked to get to visit this magical jungle oasis, Since it’s more or less the reason I’m here in Caletas with Elmer and the Paniquines family. But more about that later. Let’s talk about how much I recommend getting away to places unknown. Take the road less traveled. Find some nature. Find yourself ❤️
But 1st, how did I get here ?? Rode a boat into drake bay… No piers or docks, the boat backs right up on to the sand- hope your ready to get wet….) Stayed the night with the kind family at Casa mariposa (the awesome bed and breakfast I have the pleasure of living and working at for the month of December) started my career and a sign painting master…oh found a waterfall and some iguanas chillin on the beach
On my first day here at cabinas Los Paniquines I became Most aware that There is something grounding and comforting about the noises of nature. Roosters cock-a- doodle-doing, cicadeas vibrarting with a small screeching frequency, leaves shuffling through the costal breeze. But most importantly that the song of water , furiously- yet ever so fluidly doing its thing, can transform…Small rives babbling past my cabina and the constant rumble of the waves tumbling to the sand. It’s when I hear this sound, no matter how foreign the land, I feel at home. I’m about an hour south of drake. And when I say a hour, I mean an hike down a path that runs parallesh to the sea- Through the mud, up “steps” created by tree roots and randomly places cement slabs, and back down across draw string bridges…
What have I been getting into for the last few days? Well. A really good time!!’ .. Duh 😘
And- Some big ole bugs, rodeos, environmental festivals, garden slave labor (but fun of course), learning about coffee production, nature and the most important thing- making friends and sharing love: so here it goes.
Riding on the “chicken bus”🚍🐓🚌🐔🚌 up The accent into the unknown….
So-super-rad. Spent 5 hrs getting here (South central Costa Rica, biolley, to be exact) on a “nice” bus on paved roads and now charging 18 miles (but a 1.5 hr ride) up a dirt road. And even tho it is dark outside I can feel nature all around In every direction – every Now and then coming up on a Home, or “‘mini super” little markets selling necessities – these little
Markets (pulperia) are connected to the owners home, with the ticos all
Around just spending time together.👭👬👫
Can’t even begin to explain the simple humbling magic that is happening inside as a result of the pure rawness of everything Outside. 🌟🌲🌳🐄🐓🎆🌙🌠💚Such a simple, perfect day of moving through time and space. No hurry to get to where we are going.
An AMAZING opportunity. Presented its self today too. Can’t wait to tell you about it. Google drake bay 🌊💙🐬🐳⚓️🌅🌎🌴🌱🌴
Upon waking up the next day to the sun rise and bird songs, I feel nothing but gratitude and humility- this is where I get to practice my morning yoga😍🙏🏽🌄 🌄🙏🏽 “there is something very tender about this gratitude: through it we recognize that life itself, with out adornment or elaboration, is a gift” Donna Farhi 🌳❤️🌱 ( hot showers? nope! Happiness, YES!!)
Sometimes when I look around I feel like the kids in the grass in the movie “honey I shrunk the kids” (minus the lawmower of course!) but the nature is seriously that amazingly intense.. And
If you don’t like nature, I question if you like yourself? We are nature. There isn’t anything going on in the tress or flowers or earth that isn’t happening inside of our bodies. We are continually in a process of growth and death and growth. … It’s a natural ryTHEM AN ebb and flow…
By tuning into this awareness one is able to live more fully experiencing every moment as it is happening. This mindfulness creates an awe of what a miracle it is to be alive 🙂
In this most marvelous community I am the only gringa In a 20 mile radius. Went to a rodeo today. And yep. Only white girl there 👍🏽 with that being said Spanish is spoken here. Which is amazing. I don’t understand too much of what is being said. None the less I find myself a part of long conversations with nothing but a smile on my face 🙂 energy is so real. So powerful and so beautiful. This Sweet girl (daughter if one of The ASOMOBI leaders) bought me this yummy treat to try while we’re hanging at the rodeo
Also earlier in the day while helping we the set up for the environmental fair tomorrow the park ranger shared this most delicious new fruit w me 🍐🍎🍊🍑
Perhaps it’s time for a bit of detail about what brings me to this magical place?! Long story short my friend has been working with an incredible group of self empowered women to make their coffee and community more accessible and available to Voulenteer and visitors alike.
Check out this link. ☕️🌳☕️🌳☕️🌳☕️🌳 http://www.asomobi-costarica.com or to see a trailer of the documentary recently made about them go to http://www.asmallsectionoftheworld.com
Truly humbled by the dedication and hard work of these inspiring women. So I’m spending my time here with this women of the ASOMOBI organization and with a group of Voulenteers (that are visiting for the weekend) who work in the tourism industry in Costa Rica for a company called travel excellence. Www.Travelexcellence.com (if looking for a real tico experience and not just another typical vacay)
A coffee tree ⤴️⤴️⤴️👍🏽
Another amazing thing I’ve noticed…nobody here hurries, but everything gets done. I once read a quote along those lines “adopt the pace of nature, she never hurries and still get everything done.”
After being here for only a few days, it has become apparent to the undeniable truth that many people on this planet are simply moving too fast. to where? For what?? Slow down People. Where ever you are going will be there when you get there. Take some time to breathe, we only have so much time in these bodies, why not try to enjoy every moment to the maximum.⏳⌛️⏳⌛️⏳⌛️⏳⌛️⌛️⏳⌛️⏳⌛️⏳⌛️⏳⌛️
Headlamps btw, are amazing. 🔦🔦A bit uncool, but quite necessary for mountain, jungle, travel adventures… My only complain. They are a magnet for bugs flying at your face 😳🐞🐜🐞🐝🐜🐛🐛 Haha. I suppose it all adds to the experience… Bonus points if you eat one?!😛😂😱😩
Spent the last day In the mountains enjoying the company of a beautiful kind loving woman named Laura. Worked in her yard a bit helping with the garden, painted a used tire that they recycle and use as a planter and… I baked bread!!! So amazing to share an afternoon In the kitchen with such a divine magical soul. Then we enjoyed, what may possible be the best bread I’ve ever had in my life, with a cup of coffee and the rain kissing the tin roof making for a fabulously perfect relaxing afternoon. Pura vida.
The bread!🍞❤️🍞🍞 quite possibly the best bread I’ve ever had, fluffy, sweet, perfectly baked. ¡Que Rico!
Later in the night Malo and I traveled the pitch black night and a slobbering rain storm to be hosted to a garden to table dinner by another amazing family and one of the women of ASOMOBI.
Have to include this somewhere. Saw chicken Sex! 👍🏽😂🐓🐔🐤🐣 everything I dreamed it would be. Haha. #farmlife
We woke up at 3:45. again tackled the 40 minute walk, still in the dark, but this time minus the rain, plus the luggage…. You thought the sunset was fabulous. How about the sunrise?
3 hrs 3 busses later. I reach palmar Norte. The transit spot to get to Sierpe… From palmar Norte I’m supposed to take a buss to Sierpe.
The a boat (cause you can only get where I’m going from a boat- down the river, into the ocean, and into drake bay)….
The world continues to shrink and slow, while In Palmar Norte I meet the neighbor of Karina the girl I’m going to visit in Drake…
And as I sit here typing and editing… Drinking a beer with a handful of new friends (at 11am) 😁🍻 and I can not wait to share more!! ❤️💚💙🌊🌱🌴🌈… Mermaid girl is ecstatic to be back near the sea. The soul is alive all is well. solo adventuress begin.
Salty and sunkissed and in love with life ☀️🌴💙
Home. Within my self. I arrive at the airport 🌎✈️💨
I Spend my 1st few days in Costa Rica in the out skirts of the city, enjoying lazy days in curridabat and nights out with friends in Escazu. And the journey begins
So, here’s the situation.
You are at anothers mercy….
So. there’s the situation.
Starts and ends there- time is a concept that is relative. When you are in a hurry to be somewhere you miss out on what’s happening now. And the slowing begins.
I suppose it’s not always about me. Quite the lesson to learn (or be reminded of) sitting out side a club next to an ash tray at 1 am after a day of traveling and a night of being in a foreign Country listening to a cover band singing American classics. Not to down play that the band that was actually pretty good, I’m just exhausted! 😟😟
Yet, as I sit here typing. I can do nothing but smile. The irony of life is beautiful. I can make you bitter, or inspire you to find the lesson…
Have I mentioned I’m In Costa Rica?!?!?
I have the ability to think, to process information and to LOVE (hello Amaazing)- the privilege of breath and the power of Choice and access to freedom to live and be as I choose. Amen to this.
On an even more positive note… Waiting at the mercy Of this human, I was able to recognize the prevalence of nature EVERYWHERE … I skip across the parking lot in the dark of night, clump up on the base of the lamp post And meet a tree!!! 🌴🌴 (A beautiful happy healthy palm at that) pet its leaves, speak to it…pause long enough to be grateful for all the beauty around me, the rain & the greenery the life…. Regaurdless of the fact I’m ready to go home- I Smile on, and breathe In this moment.
Moving forward, Moving on…Away from the nasty Nauseating ash try (which happens to be right next to the only seat out side) and back to the bar, I suppose if you can’t beat em join em.
-pura vida 🐙
More travels, more stories, more
Love. Stay human. Keep smiling. Let the universe do its thing.
Let go or be dragged- Zen Proverb
Although my heart and my intentions for my time here in Costa are to be in nature, in the waves, practicing yoga, teaching and sharing love, these few days in San Jose (a huge massive congested city) had been the most magical transitions/ buffer ever. And most importantly a reminder…. A reminder that no matter where on the planet you go, That life is life, and people are people. We are ALL beautiful divine lights Living, loving and doing our best to survive, or thrive and make sense of this human experience.
I’m most grateful to my beautiful friend Kathy – allowing me to live like a tico in the city, local bars, local food, home cooked breakfast, new fruits?!?.➡️➡️➡️
Mamonchino – What a mamonchino my Mom asks, What does it taste like…well, It’s sweet. And when you break the shell off it looks like a clear hard boiled egg inside, almost gelatinous, but a bit more solid. With a seed in the middle that looks like an almond -So rad! Nature is fascinating 😋😋😋😋
…and back to my hostess with the mostest- grateful for thundery rainy afternoon naps with the cutest sweetest puppy in town. Thank you kind woman… Keeping me grounded. Widening circles. Connecting seemingly unattached elements. We truly are one… And as Mr. Marley so famously says. “One love. One heart. Let’s get together and feel alright.”
Rise in love sweet humans. Stay stoked. And share love-all love all the time-
your salty and sunkissed mermaid 🐙✌🏽️☀️🐚🐬
oh. And in true Katie fashion. This also happened
Next adventures… Bus rides And Biolley. My friend malo And some real living… Off to a “small section of the world” (google it 😘) and the slowing continues….
I love humanity. ✈️💨🌎
People coming and going. How marvelous it all is.
And I’m Just a girl. Ticket in hand, eyes gently open, van Morrison singing love songs to me as lullabys of the PA announce themselves in the back ground. I’m tired, excited… And ready. Patagonia bag in my lap, yoga mat strapped to the side- bikinis packed I close my eyes. Wait to board the plane and let the wind blow me up up… And away…. 🌈🌀💙 For more #instigatorlbc shenanigans follown Him on Instagram, or me at mermaid_gypsy_
Stay stoked sweet friends – pura vida- #allloveallthetime
